Meet the Team: Lucy Briggs
Hello Round Mountain readers, my name is Lucy Briggs and I’ve been working at the shop for a little over three years. I started out as a barista and worked my way up to a combination of Head Roaster/Occasional Barista. Most days you’ll find me in the back of the store roasting the coffee that you’ll be drinking. If you’re hoping I’ll be the one making your latte, you’ll have to come in on a Sunday morning to see me.
When it comes to life outside of work, I don’t have much going on. I recently got married to the love of my life, Matt, and we have a dog to keep our days interesting. As for personal creative projects, I have many. I started a podcast a little over a year ago (You’re So Introverted) where I talk about whatever is on my mind at the moment. If you’re more of a reader than a listener, I also have a newsletter where I write my thoughts of the week (The Sunday Paper).
Speaking of reading, I do a lot of that. I’m mostly a nonfiction type of girl, but every once in a while, I dabble in the world of fiction. If you’re looking for recommendations, I’m the one to talk to. Right now, at the top of my list, I’ve got When Women Invented Television by Jennifer K. Armstrong and The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart. I bet you can’t guess which one is nonfiction and which one isn’t.
Now, if you’re looking for RMC drink recommendations, I have those too. Right now my all-time favorite is the Volcanic Cold Brew, but that’s a summer seasonal so it won’t be around forever. If you’re asking for a Lucy staple that’s always available, I’d recommend the Matcha Latte with oat milk and cardamom instead of vanilla. Chef’s kiss.
My time at Round Mountain has shaped me in so many ways. I’ve become so much more confident in who I am as a barista (and as a human being in general) because of how inspiring and encouraging the people around me are. My co-workers are like built-in buddies, and I love them to death. I feel the same way about the customers of Round Mountain as well. Really truly love every single person who walks through these doors, as if they were family. Thank you for making my life interesting, RMC.
